Naan Bread

Soft and pillowy homemade naan with a tender chew, finished with melted butter. Perfect alongside curries or as a flatbread base.

Ingredients

- 1 tspsugar
- 1½ cupswarm water
- 2¼ tspactive dry yeast
- 6¼ cupsall-purpose flour
- 1 tspsalt
- ½ cupplain yogurt
- 3 tbspoil
- oil, for greasing
- 3 tbspmelted butter, for finishing
Instructions
- 1.Combine warm water, sugar, and yeast in a large bowl. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- 2.Add yogurt and oil to the yeast mixture and stir to combine.
- 3.Add flour and salt, mixing until a dough forms. Knead on a lightly floured surface for 6–8 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4.Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
- 5.Divide dough into 8 equal pieces and roll each into an oval about ¼ inch thick.
- 6.Heat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over high heat. Cook each naan for 1–2 minutes per side until puffed and charred spots appear.
