Chicken Tikka Masala

Tender charred chicken in a deeply spiced, creamy tomato sauce. Serve with basmati rice and warm naan.

- 1½ lbschicken breast or thighs, cubed
- ½ cupplain yogurt
- 1 tbsplemon juice
- 2 tspgaram masala
- 1 tspcumin
- ½ tspturmeric
- 1 tsppaprika
- 4garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tspginger, grated
- 14 ozcanned crushed tomatoes
- ½ cupheavy cream
- 1 largeonion, diced
- 2 tbspbutter
Instructions
- 1.Mix yogurt, lemon juice, and half the spices. Add chicken, toss to coat, and marinate at least 30 minutes (overnight is best).
- 2.Cook marinated chicken in batches in a hot oiled pan until charred. Set aside.
- 3.In the same pan, melt butter. Cook onion until golden. Add garlic, ginger, and remaining spices. Cook 2 minutes.
- 4.Add crushed tomatoes and simmer 15 minutes until thickened.
- 5.Return chicken to the pan. Stir in cream. Simmer 10 minutes. Season to taste.
- 6.Serve over basmati rice with naan.
Notes
Marinate the chicken for up to 24 hours for maximum flavor.
